Finance & Accounting Manager

Own the books of a firm that trades continuously in an asset class most ledgers were not built for.

Dubai (on-site)/Full-time/Open

PositionOperations, Post-Trade and Support

The problem.

The firm's trading records are precise, continuous and machine-generated. The accounting records have to agree with them and also satisfy an auditor who has never seen a funding payment. Bridging those two worlds, without either one quietly rounding, is the work.

What you would do.

  • Own the accounting close, on a cycle that reflects a market that never shuts.
  • Build the bridge between the trading book of record and the ledger, so the two reconcile exactly rather than approximately.
  • Own attribution: which activity produced which movement, at a granularity that supports a decision rather than a summary.
  • Manage the audit relationship and the tax position, working with counsel on treatment where the answer is not settled.
  • Own the operating budget and the cost of the infrastructure. Be the person who asks whether a line is still earning its place.

What we would want evidence of.

  • You have kept books for a trading business, or learned an unfamiliar asset class properly enough that the auditor stopped asking.
  • You are precise about rounding, and have found a place where it accumulated.
  • You can work from a machine-generated source of truth rather than from statements.
  • You have managed an audit through a period where the treatment of something was genuinely unclear.
  • You can explain a number to a person who will act on it.

What would make this a bad fit.

This role is a poor fit if you want an established finance function and a system already chosen. You would be choosing it.

This role is a poor fit if reconciling to the last unit strikes you as excessive. It is the standard here and it will not move.
